Most of what you read about the West Loop is about restaurants. That part is true, and as someone who plans weekends around where to eat, I am not complaining. But day to day, it is quieter than people expect once you are a block or two off Randolph or Fulton Market. In the morning it is mostly dog walkers and coffee. The housing is a real mix, with old brick lofts right next to new glass buildings. Walk a few blocks in each direction before you decide. The West Loop you see on a Friday night is not the only West Loop.
