SENIOR DOWNSIZING IN CHICAGO AND THE SUBURBS
Downsizing is not just a move. It is a life transition, and it deserves a plan that respects the person who is moving.
I work on your timeline, however long it takes.
Before real estate, I spent 20 years as a school social worker and special education administrator. That work shows up in how I do this one. I listen first. I slow things down when the timing is not right. And I advocate for the person who is moving, not only for the family that wants them to.

WHO I HELP
Seniors who are starting to wonder what is next.
Adult children who are helping a parent make a move.
Families who need to sort out a home full of memories, and sometimes full of opinions.
Sometimes I provide a little too much therapy during the process. Most families tell me that is exactly what they needed.

LISTEN FIRST
-
We talk about health, independence, family, and what home means to you before we ever talk about the house.
PLAN TOGETHER
-
Stay and adapt the home, move to a condo near family, choose independent living, or something in between. We look at every option before we decide.
A TEAM YOU TRUST
-
Movers, organizers, estate sale pros, and attorneys I know and trust. Compass Concierge can help cover prep costs on the home, so you do not pay up front.
YOUR TIMELINE
-
No pressure. No deadline but yours. If the timing is not right, I will tell you, and we will slow down.

FAQs
WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO DOWNSIZE?
Before a crisis, if you can. A plan made early gives you choices. A plan made after a fall or a hospital stay often does not.
WHAT IF MY PARENT DOES NOT WANT TO MOVE?
That is more common than you think. The first step is to listen, not to persuade. I help families have that conversation with respect for the person who lives in the home.
DO I NEED TO SELL BEFORE I BUY?
It depends on your finances and your next home. We plan the order of the sale and the purchase together, so you do not have to move twice.
CAN WE GET HELP PAYING TO PREP THE HOUSE?
Often, yes. Through Compass Concierge, Compass can front the cost of things like painting, flooring, decluttering, and staging, so you pay nothing up front. It is repaid when the home sells. Rules and exclusions apply, so ask me how it would work for your home.
